HOW TO SHIP BILLIONS OF MASKS AND OTHER MEDICAL EQUIPMENT FROM CHINA TO THE WORLD?
With strong demand for medical products due to the rapid and unexpected spread of coronavirus around the world, your supply chain must be agile to be able to face all the new challenges. Loïc Benattar, Vice-President of Bansard international for the APAC zone has been invited by the Singapore and Chinese French Chamber of Commerce to lead a webinar sharing his insights on how to manage and optimize your supply chain in this time of crisis.
High demand and the need to produce as quickly as possible leads to supply problems, especially quality problems. It is necessary to find the right product, in the right place, at the right time. In order to address the quality problem, many countries have consolidated their export and import regulations.
Currently, China remains the largest producer of PPE (Personal protective equipment) in the world, with a daily mask production capacity of 300 million masks per day (Jieman). This unexpectedly high demand and the significant decrease in passenger flights due to the outbreak are causing important congestion at airports and warehouses. On top of this, China's customs regulations are constantly changing to ensure the right quality of products as well as all the importing nations making different strategic decisions leading to unusual solutions.
To manage your supply chain efficiently, Bansard International team suggest 5 pieces of advice:
- Integrated your Supply chain lead times directly into your shipment planning,
- First to pay, first-served, to secure the acquisition of your desired PPE order
- Organize the pick up of your order as soon as possible to avoid overbidding
- Stay up-to-date of the customs and documentation at the origins and destination
- Anticipate the booking 10 days in advance to secure flights.
